Martha hates the house and, as the summer goes on, it appears she has good reason as there seems to be a malevolent force in the place that is strongest around the well in the basement. Events and scenes become ever more familiar as it becomes clear what the malevolent force is and what it intends to do with the lives of Martha and Andrew.
